DkIT’s Lennon Cup All Star Awards Ceremony
29 April 2024DkIT was absolutely thrilled to recently welcome 30 Gaelic Footballers and their families on campus. These players attended an event in honour to award them with a Lennon Cup All Star or Lennon Shield All Star Award. 71 players were nominated by their schools based on their performances in the Lennon Cup and Shield competitions. The nominees were then voted for in the Argus and Drogheda Independent over recent weeks and then awardees were invited on campus for the evening event.
This year the awards were sponsored by Ganson Building and Civil Engineering who were represented at the event by David Rogers. All recipients were presented with their All-Star jersey and kit by DkIT Freshers captain Tadhg O’ Brien and DkIT Alumni, Louth Star Peter Lynch. On the night The Overall Player of The Tournament Award was presented to Mattock Rangers star Sean Flynn who won an O’Neills sports voucher for him, his school Ardee Community School and his club.
DkIT Sports and Societies’ Officer Dr Bronagh McGrane commented
“It was great to have such a talented bunch of players on campus at DkIT. Aoife Gregory from the DkIT Gaelic Development Office has done a fantastic job in organising the whole awards competition in conjunction with Louth GAA along with local journalists and local schools and it was fantastic to have them all in attendance on the night which made it a really special occasion. I look forward to welcoming a number of the players back to DkIT in the future as students.”
